PROSPECT UPSHOT: PREMIER ACADEMY vs ST PIUS X

In the first quarter, Premier set the tone against a relatively young St. Pius X Panthers squad that was paced by senior guard Jason Johnson who scored all 8 of their 1st quarter point total. Premier's size and athleticism made this game a tough contest (for St Pius). Premier didn’t shoot the ball that well, but had a lot of second and third chance opportunities to finish near the rim. St Pius X has a lot of intriguing young players on the roster, which in turn, could be really beneficial for their future. Bottom line - Premier was just too much for SPX to handle.

Ethan Yancy 6’4” SG | Premier | 2021
Played solid for his squad. Moves well without the ball in his hands. Attached the rim aggressively and finished through contact as he had a couple of and+1 buckets. Finished the game with 21 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. He shot 7/16 total field goals (5/9-2FG & 2/7-3FG) and he also shot 5/8 from the foul line.
Will Young 6’2” PG | Premier | 2021
Will played with pace and was poised in the game. His speed up and then slow it down gameplay was really beneficial for Premier and they scored at a higher rate when he was the play initiator. He finished with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. He shot 7/12 from the field (5/9-2FG & 2/3-3FG) and shot 1/2 from the charity stripe.
Dok Muordar 6’11” C | Premier | 2022
His length was too much for the opposing team. He did get into foul trouble early in the game. But he still was able to play all four quarters of the game. He was a put-back king and was a force on the interior defensively as he was swatting and altering shots. He finished with 11 points, 16 rebounds, and 4 blocks. He shot 4/10 from the field and 3/5 from the foul line.
Jason Johnson 6’0” PG | St Pius X | 2021
Jason has a solid handle with the rock in his hand. He was tough to guard splitting trappings and crossing his opponents. Has a quick first step and he gets downhill quick and in a hurry. He had some acrobatic lays and was able to take his opponent off the dribble on almost every possession. He has quick hands defensively also. He finished with 21 points, 5 steals, and 3 rebounds. He shot 7/16 from the field and 7/10 from the free throw line.
Nate Alvarez 6’4” F | St Pius X | 2024
For a freshman playing on varsity is never just an easy feat. Nate had some timid-ness at times during the game. He can put the ball on the floor and adjusted well to the speed of the game as it went on. He can shoot from the midrange. He was super effective on the glass and had a chase down block as well. He finished with 9 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 block. He shot 4/9 from the field (4/6-2FG & 0/3-3FG) and shot 1/4 from the charity stripe.
